Nagarhole National Park, also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is a premier wildlife sanctuary located in Karnataka, India. Spanning across 643 square kilometers, it forms part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and is renowned for its rich biodiversity. The park’s name comes from the Kannada words Nagara (snake) and Hole (stream), reflecting its serpentine streams that traverse the lush landscape.
Covered with dense forests, open grassy swamps, and serene streams, Nagarhole is home to an array of flora and fauna. It is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, offering sightings of Bengal tigers, leopards, Asian elephants, wild dogs, and over 250 bird species. The Kabini River, flowing along its border, enhances its scenic beauty and provides essential water resources for the wildlife.
