The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children should have their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Early assessment and pre-orthodontic guidance enables Dr. Smith and Dr. Christensen to monitor your child’s growth and development at periodic 6-9 month intervals, and recommend timely treatment if necessary. These monitoring visits are complementary and will allow the doctors to keep you informed of your child’s progress. When indicated, interceptive (Phase I) treatment may prevent more serious problems from developing and may make treatment at a later age shorter and less complicated.
