Top 10 Reasons to consider an Explainer Video

Top  10 reasons why investing in a one minute explainer video placed on your home web page will help visitors remember your business:

Efficiency and Clarity: Explainer videos may condense complicated ideas into narratives that are clear, interesting, and simple to follow. In many cases, they are more effective than reading through elaborate written explanations.

Increased Conversion Rates: According to studies, adding an explainer video on your website may dramatically boost your conversion rates by aiding visitors in rapidly and easily comprehending your product or service.

Improved SEO Ranking: Videos are a terrific method to get consumers to spend more time on your site, which is something search engines value highly. This increase in activity may aid in raising your site’s SEO position.

Mobile User Attraction: Since more and more people are using their mobile devices to access the internet, it’s critical to offer content that is compatible with these devices. Videos are a mobile-friendly solution since they are simple to watch on tiny displays.

Increased Social Sharing: Videos are very easy to distribute on social networks. A well-made explainer vidoe may enhance the probability that your product or service will be shared on social media, expanding the audience for it.

Explainer videos may more clearly explain how your product or service operates and why it is better than alternatives. Sometimes language or photos alone are not enough to convey this type of demonstration.

Emotional Connection: By including narrative, characters, music, and other elements, videos have the ability to elicit strong feelings from viewers. This emotional bond can improve client loyalty and brand retention.

Brand personality can be effectively communicated through an explainer vidoe, providing viewers a sense of who you are, what you stand for, and why they should select you. Think of it as a 1 Minute Elevator Pitch.

Increased Retention: When watching a video instead of reading text, viewers recall information far better. A video is a fantastic technique to get your audience to remember your services or products.

Despite their efficacy, not every company employs explainer films, which gives you a competitive advantage. Having one on your website might make you stand out from your rivals and provide you a special selling proposition.

Boards Are Having the Wrong Conversations About Cybersecurity

Boards Are Having the Wrong Conversations About Cybersecurity

Boards that struggle with their role in providing oversight for cybersecurity create a security problem for their organizations. Even though boards say cybersecurity is a priority, they have a long way to go to help their organizations become resilient to cyberattacks. And by not focusing on resilience, boards fail their companies.

We surveyed 600 board members about their attitudes and activities around cybersecurity. Our research shows that despite investments of time and money, most directors (65%) still believe their organizations are at risk of a material cyberattack within the next 12 months, and almost half believe they are unprepared to cope with a targeted attack. Unfortunately, this growing awareness of cyber risk is not driving better preparedness. In this article we detail several ways companies can begin to develop better cybersecurity awareness.

Board interactions with the CISO are lacking

Just 69% of responding board members see eye-to-eye with their chief information security officers (CISOs). Fewer than half (47%) of members serve on boards that interact with their CISOs regularly, and almost a third of them only see their CISOs at board presentations. This means that directors and security leaders spend far from enough time together to have a meaningful dialogue about cybersecurity priorities and strategies. In addition, our research found that while 65% of board members think their organization is at risk of a material cyberattack, only 48% of CISOs share that view.  This communication gap and board-CISO misalignment hinders progress in cybersecurity.

Our findings suggest that the CISO-board disconnect is exacerbated by their unfamiliarity with each other on a personal level (they do not spend enough time together to get to know each other and their attitudes and priorities in a productive way). Also contributing to this disconnect is the CISO’s difficulty in translating technical jargon into business language, such as risk, reputation, and resilience.

To forge strategic partnerships with CISOs, director-CISO engagement between board meetings would enable directors to ask better questions and understand the answers they receive.

Boards focus on protection when they need to focus on resilience

Notwithstanding the high perceived risk, our survey found that 76% of board members believe they have made adequate investments in cyber protection. Furthermore, 87% expect their cybersecurity budgets to grow in the next 12 months.

However, their investments may not be in the right areas. In a typical board meeting, the cybersecurity presentations usually cover threats and the actions/technologies the company is implementing to protect against them. For example, in many board meetings, the primary topic is how often the company administers a phishing test and the statistical results. To us, that is the wrong perspective for board oversight. We know we cannot be completely protected, no matter how much money we invest in technologies or programs to stop cyberattacks. While spending resources to protect our assets is critical, limiting discussions to protection sets us up for disaster.

Instead, the conversation needs to focus on resilience. We must assume, for planning purposes, that we will experience a cyberattack of some type, and prepare our organizations to respond and recover with minimal damage, cost, and reputational impact. For example, instead of going into detail in a board meeting on how our organization is set up to respond to an incident, we must focus on what the biggest risk might be and how we are prepared to quickly recover from the damage should that situation happen.

To change their focus to resilience as the primary goal of cybersecurity, directors could ask their operating leaders to create a vision for how the company will respond and recover when an attack occurs. Minimization of the possibility of a successful cyberattack in the first place should only be the secondary goal.

Boards view cybersecurity as a technical topic, but it has become an organizational and strategic imperative

Only 67% of board members believe human error is their biggest cyber vulnerability, although findings of the World Economic Forum indicate that human error accounts for 95% of cybersecurity incidents. This might be an indicator that some boards do not see the organizational risk they face. Further, half of survey participants value CISO cybersecurity expertise the most, followed by technical expertise (44%) and risk management (38%). This suggests that even though cybersecurity topics may have made it onto the agenda, the board still sees them as technical issues.

When boards view cybersecurity only as a technical topic, it becomes a topic too operational for attention in their meetings. Time is limited in board meetings, making it difficult to cover all the nuances necessary for proper oversight. Directors may shy away from asking difficult questions because they feel they are not knowledgeable enough about technical concepts to properly articulate the question or even to understand the answer. Viewing cybersecurity as an organizational issue changes the discussion from a technical to a management challenge. When cybersecurity is viewed as an organizational strategic imperative, it becomes relevant for board level discussion.

Boards should ask questions such as, “What is the technical risk to our business from potential cybersecurity incidents?” “What are we doing about tempering any damage resulting from the realization of that risk?” “What is the organizational risk from potential cyber incidents and what are we doing to quickly recover from the consequences?” And, “What is the supply chain risk from potential cybersecurity incidents and what are we doing about it so we do not lose a day of production?”

The composition of most boards today creates additional vulnerability when it could create stronger oversight

Many boards we studied are composed of very seasoned executives, either retired or not, who have extensive experience in operations, finance, sales, and their industries. But few have cybersecurity knowledge or experience. In 2022, the SEC proposed more explicit recommendations for cybersecurity risk management, governance, and disclosure for public companies, and it’s expected that these proposals will become requirements. That means that boards must have clearer oversight of cybersecurity risk and include explicit cybersecurity expertise on the board.

Many former executives were leaders before the current cybersecurity environment, and may not bring expertise, or even an approach for gaining that expertise, to their boards. Not that they are inappropriate executives to serve as directors without such expertise, but the board must develop this expertise as a whole. Directors must bring more than just technical expertise to the boardroom. They must also understand the environment, financial structures, tradeoffs, and business risk portfolio. Finding new board members who bring the right mix of cybersecurity expertise and business acumen is challenging.

To bring cybersecurity expertise into the boardroom, board composition may need to change. Board members may need to gain cybersecurity expertise through frequent conversations about cybersecurity-generated risk, training, and development programs, and add colleagues with radically different business and professional backgrounds than current board members.

Failing to show that cybersecurity is a priority for the board sends an unwanted message

Our research found that almost a quarter of boardrooms do not view cybersecurity as a priority, and many do not even regularly discuss the topic. Some boards only have one cybersecurity update presentation per year, and that presentation is usually focused on how protected the organization is. That is not adequate.

Making cybersecurity a priority for the board is a commitment, not merely an annual update. It means talking about it at every board meeting, getting updates in between meetings, asking questions outside of what is presented, and taking a personal interest (such as being secure themselves, bringing cyber questions up and/or sharing stories, making heroes out of those who show the behaviors that the board wants to see, etc.).

For example, what message would be sent to the organization’s executive leadership if, at each board meeting the members recognized an exemplary “hero” who had personally done something to increase the resilience/security of the company? On the other side, if the board does not up their game by showing how important cybersecurity is to them, intentionally or not, they are communicating that cyber is not a priority.

Directors’ personal actions send messages to the senior leaders. By making cybersecurity a personal priority through actions and investment of time and attention, directors show how important it is.

Boards know they must do something different. The SEC recommendations would codify that knowledge. Headlines increasingly highlight the consequences of poor cybersecurity practices.  Board members with cybersecurity experience are trying to get their fellow members’ attention on it. And board members want to provide oversight, even though they just don’t have the right questions to ask. Boards need to discuss their organization’s cybersecurity-induced risks and evaluate plans to manage those risks. With the right conversations about keeping the company resilient, they can take the next step to provide adequate cybersecurity oversight.

Scientists are creating stronger coral reefs in record time – by “gardening” underwater – CBS News

Scientists are creating stronger coral reefs in record time – by "gardening" underwater - CBS News

A new project in the Caribbean is setting out to save coral reefs – and the world.

The Ocean-Shot Project, spearheaded by climate scientist Dr. Deborah Brosnan, launched in 2021 to develop a “massive, first-of-its-kind” coral reef restoration initiative in the Caribbean country Antigua and Barbuda.

“We lose more coral reefs in a day that we can restore in a decade,” Brosnan told CBS News. “Our progress towards protecting coral reefs – which ultimately protect us – is too slow. So Ocean-Shot is about literally rebuilding the reefs, the architecture of the reefs, for the future.”

What sets this project apart from other coral reef restoration projects is its focus – the architecture of the reef itself. While many initiatives prioritize saving the corals, Ocean-Shot tacks on the additional focus of developing the base for those corals to grow and thrive.

Coral secretes calcium carbonate, creating a sort-of concrete around itself that becomes the structure for the reef. But that process can take “hundreds and thousands of years,” Brosnan said. And with coral bleaching events only anticipated to become more intense in the coming decades as global and ocean temperatures warm, this can be a problem for reefs that need to be able to recover.

“What we’re doing is we’re saying, ‘let’s learn from the corals, let’s learn from nature,'” Brosnan said. “And let’s make this happen quickly.”

To make that happen, her team is creating reef structures in a lab and then planting them in the ocean, a process that Brosnan likened to “gardening.” The team is also planting “resilient corals” among the structures that have already survived several bleaching events.

Nearly six months ago, her team deployed their first set of these structures, called modules, into the ocean around Antigua and Barbuda. And it’s already seeing significant success.

“We’ve got 97-98% survival of the corals we’ve transplanted. And we now have 26 new species that have moved in by themselves …everything from parrot fish to commercial fish to commercial lobster,” Brosnan said. “We saw a whole ecosystem start to recognize these reefs as home and just move right on in. So what it told us is that if we provide the living structure, the ecosystem will respond in return.”

Thriving coral reefs doesn’t just help marine life thrive, Brosnan said, but it also helps humanity survive.

Coral reefs are essential to protecting coastlines from erosion, and when reefs are close to the ocean surface, Brosnan said they can break up about 95% of incoming wave energy. This allows for the power of strong waves to break up before hitting shore, protecting those on the coast as well as beaches as a whole and making communities and coastlines more resilient against rising sea levels and climate change, she said.

Coral reefs are also a crucial source of food and income for more than half a billion people across the world, according to NOAA, with the net economic value of reefs estimated to be “tens of billions of U.S. dollars per year.”

Cooperating with billionaire philanthropist and entrepreneur John Paul Dejoria was an essential part of this project’s success, Brosnan said, as was the support of the country’s prime minister, Gaston Browne. Brosnan said the project could be scaled up around the world with enough support.

At the end of the day, Brosnan said, “our planet is at stake.”

“We’re helping the reef through this transition of what our planet used to be like, to what it really is like today and what it’s going to be like in the future,” she said. “Corals are more resilent. If we create the right conditions for them, they will thrive.”

5 Reasons PRO/CON to Join A Business Search Directory

PRO / CON:

5 reasons for and 5 reasons against adding your business to a business search directory.

FOR:

1) Enhanced visibility: Prospective clients who are looking for goods or services in a certain sector or region use business search directories. By including your business, you can attract more visitors to your website or physical location and boost your visibility to these clients.

2) Improved search engine rankings: By adding high-quality backlinks to your website, listing your business in a reputed business directory can help with your website’s search engine optimization (SEO). Increased organic traffic and better search engine rankings may result from this.

3) Credibility: Potential clients will view your company as a trustworthy and legitimate firm if it is featured in a reputable business directory, which will increase your company’s credibility and trustworthiness in their eyes.

4) Opportunities for networking: A business search directory can connect you with companies in your region or industry, presenting beneficial chances for networking and potential alliances.

5) Cost-effective marketing: Since many company directories provide free or inexpensive listing options, small and medium-sized firms can use them as a cost-effective marketing technique to increase visibility and draw in new clients.

CON: Why you should avoid adding your firm to a business search directory:

1) Privacy issues: Publishing your business information in a business directory exposes it to the public, which could result in unsolicited offers of services or pose security threats.

2) Time commitment: Updating and maintaining your entry in several directories can take a lot of your time away from other crucial business operations.

3) Possibility of negative reviews Users can submit evaluations on some company directories, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Negative reviews can damage your company’s reputation and turn away potential clients, while favorable ones can help your reputation.

4) Mediocre efficiency Adding your business to these sites may not produce noticeable benefits if your target market does not use them to find businesses. In this situation, it’s crucial to conduct research and comprehend the areas where your target market looks for companies like yours.

5) Ineffective for some industries: If an industry is niche, B2B, or strongly relies on word-of-mouth advertising, it may not benefit as much from inclusion in a company directory. Other marketing techniques might be more successful in these situations.

Energy of ’25 billion atomic bombs’ trapped on Earth in just 50 years, all because of global warming | Live Science

Energy of '25 billion atomic bombs' trapped on Earth in just 50 years, all because of global warming | Live Science

An illustration of a mushroom cloud exploding in the distance in the desert.

Global warming has trapped an explosive amount of energy in Earth’s atmosphere in the past half century — the equivalent of about 25 billion atomic bombs, a new study finds.

In the paper, published April 17 in the journal Earth System Science Data (opens in new tab), an international group of researchers estimated that, between 1971 and 2020, around 380 zettajoules — that is, 380,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 joules — of energy has been trapped by global warming

Such a big number is hard to put into context. But two researchers, who were not involved in the study, have put it into perspective by comparing the energy to that released by nukes. However, even then, the amount is still hard to wrap your head around.

In an article for The Conversation (opens in new tab), Andrew King (opens in new tab), a climate scientist at the University of Melbourne in Australia, and Steven Sherwood (opens in new tab), a climate scientist at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, calculated that 380 zettajoules is equivalent to around 25 billion times the energy released during the detonation of “Little Boy,” the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, on Aug. 6, 1945.

Even more mind-blowing, the energy absorbed by the planet during this time period likely equates to only around 60% of total greenhouse gas emissions, so the actual number is even higher, King and Sherwood wrote.

But such a large amount of energy is also puzzling, because based on that amount of heat being trapped in the atmosphere, the average global temperature should have risen by dozens of degrees since preindustrial times, rather than by the 2.2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.2 degrees Celsius) that we have observed, the pair wrote. So where has all this extra energy gone?

An ocean wave crashing with the sun shining behind it.

According to the study, the oceans have absorbed around 89% of the energy (338.2 zettajoules), land has absorbed 6% (22.8 zettajoules), 4% (15.2 zettajoules) has melted parts of the cryosphere — the part of Earth’s climate system that includes snow, sea ice, freshwater ice, icebergs, glaciers and ice caps, ice sheets, ice shelves and permafrost — and just 1% (3.8 zettajoules) has remained in the atmosphere.

The majority of the heat absorbed by the seas is trapped in the upper 0.6 mile (1 kilometer) of the oceans. This has spared humanity from the brunt of climate change so far, but it has also caused massive increases in sea surface temperatures, which has accelerated polar melting, damaged marine ecosystems, increased the severity of tropical storms and begun to disrupt ocean currents.

However, the oceans will not protect our planet forever, King and Sherwood wrote, so we must begin rapidly decreasing greenhouse gas emissions by decarbonizing the global economy to ensure our future survival. “We’re in a race, and the stakes are as high as they could possibly be — ensuring a liveable climate for our children and for nature,” they wrote.

What Business Needs to Know About the New U.S. Cybersecurity Strategy

What Business Needs to Know About the New U.S. Cybersecurity Strategy

On March 2, 2023, the Biden administration released its long-awaited National Cybersecurity Strategy. In light of cyberattacks targeting American infrastructure, business, and governmental agencies, the document elevates cybersecurity as a critical component of the United States’ economic prosperity and national security. It also intimates a fundamental dilemma, which is that the private sector — with key stakeholders consisting of software firms, small- and medium-sized businesses, broadband providers, and utility companies — holds the key to the public good of cybersecurity:

Continued disruptions of critical infrastructure and thefts of personal data make clear that market forces alone have not been enough to drive broad adoption of best practices in cybersecurity and resilience.

Voluntary progress toward better cyber hygiene on the part of the private sector is no longer enough. Instead, the new strategy promises to support new regulatory frameworks that will shift liability and create incentives for private firms to defend against critical vulnerabilities.

Why a Public Sector Document Is Fixated on the Private Sector

The private sector has attracted the attention of a cyber-wary public sector because of a slew of high-profile cyber incidents in the last few years. In 2017, customer credit bureau Equifax experienced a hack that compromised the personal information of more than 143 million Americans, leading to a $425 million settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. Malicious actors have increasingly employed ransomware against American businesses, demanding large sums of money for the safe exchange of sensitive data.

Ransomware continues to be a popular tactic amongst hackers precisely because these campaigns have often been successful in generating lucrative payouts. According to Comparitech’s analyses of ransomware incidents throughout the U.S., ransomware attacks on American businesses cost $20.9 billion from 2018–2023, with an average ransom demand of $4.15 million dollars for affected businesses in 2022. For example, Colonial Pipeline, which transports 100 million gallons of fuel per day, or 45% of all fuel used on the East Coast, suffered a devastating ransomware breach in 2021, the largest publicly disclosed attack on critical U.S. oil infrastructure in history. The perpetrator, DarkSide, stole 100 gigabytes of data within two hours, which it threatened to release unless the company paid 75 bitcoins to the group, worth approximately $5 million dollars at the time, which Colonial Pipeline paid within a few hours, blackmailed into action by the disruptiveness of the attack.

No part of the economy is immune. As a 2021 survey by the Center for Strategic & International Studies indicated, 42% of small- and medium-sized businesses experienced a cyberattack in the last year and estimates suggest that 40% of 2021 cyberattacks concentrated on small and medium-sized businesses, with attacks on these businesses growing 150% over the last two years. The potential data and revenue extractability might be lower when compared to that of large businesses like Microsoft, but small- and medium-sized firms also have fewer resources to devote to robust cybersecurity. In some cases, these companies simply don’t have any dedicated resources for cybersecurity.

Three Things Companies Need to Know About the National Cybersecurity Strategy

While the 39-page document features bureaucratic buzzwords like “harmonize”, “stakeholders,” and “multilateral,” we’ve identified three concrete things business leaders should know about the new strategy.

First, every company needs to identify their distinct vulnerabilities and risks. The Biden administration’s strategy makes it clear that the time for companies voluntarily opting into cybersecurity has long passed. Instead, they need to take proactive measures to test and understand their threat landscape. Companies should conduct formal vulnerability scans and penetration tests that identify potential access points. Where possible, companies should hire “ethical hackers,” otherwise known as “red teams,” that simulate sophisticated cyberattacks and reveal whether and how adversaries could access sensitive data or disrupt networks. Firms must also thoroughly vet third-party vendors and software suppliers to minimize the risk of attacks through the supply chain.

Second, companies then need to adopt measures that address those supply chain vulnerabilities. As part of this step, they should take advantage of the strategy’s promise for public-private collaboration in the form of information-sharing, as well as practical guidance and support on how to navigate the cyber threat environment. More generally, they need to then take preventative measures, including patching known exploits, providing regular security training for employees, and incorporating anomaly-detection tools, while ensuring that they have response plans that can minimize the scale and harm of successful hacks.

Third, companies need to recognize that one size will not fit all when it comes to cybersecurity. An important subtext of the strategy is its focus on establishing more aggressive regulatory standards on larger business, critical infrastructure, and software providers.

The strategy categorically states that “the lack of mandatory requirements has resulted in inadequate and inconsistent outcomes” and that it will push for legislation to hold these firms “liable when they fail to live up to the duty of care they owe consumers, businesses, or critical infrastructure providers.” These firms may in turn seek to shape legislation and liability, but the strategy makes it clear that more of the onus in terms of finding and fixing vulnerabilities will fall on the larger businesses where stakes are higher and resources are more abundant. Small businesses are not in the crosshairs (yet), but are also not off the hook. They should also seek out opportunities for collaboration, such as the National Institutes of Standards and Technology’s recently launched initiative to foster communication across small businesses.

When it comes to the concrete implications of the Biden administration’s new National Cybersecurity Strategy for American industry, the devil will be in the details. The document includes core pillars and noble goals that we would expect, given that cyberspace is arguably now the backbone of the U.S. national economy. The trick will be doing this in ways that are mindful of the realistic challenges of identifying and patching all vulnerabilities, and the risks that inadequate care will affect not just individuals, but the entire global economy.

By actively monitoring and responding to reviews, you can show that you value your customers and are committed to providing quality products or services.
  5. Cost-Effective Marketing Listing your business in a business search directory is a cost-effective marketing strategy. Most directories offer free listings, while others offer paid options with additional features and benefits. Compared to other forms of marketing, such as advertising or direct mail, listing your business in a directory is relatively inexpensive. This makes it a great option for small businesses or startups that have limited marketing budgets. Additionally, many directories offer analytics or tracking tools that allow you to measure the effectiveness of your listing and adjust your strategy accordingly.

In conclusion, listing your business in a business search directory can have numerous benefits for your business, including increased visibility and exposure, improved SEO, targeted marketing, improved online reputation, and cost-effective marketing. By taking advantage of these benefits, you can attract more customers, generate more leads, and increase your revenue.

Business Search Directory – Yes or No?

Business Search Directory - Yes or No?

To a Directory or Not to a Directory!

If you’re a small business owner, you’ve probably wondered: do I need to be in a business search directory?

The answer is “it depends.” If you’re looking to increase visibility and attract new customers, then a business search directory can be an effective tool. However, if your business already has a strong online presence and is well-established, it may not be as necessary.

A business search directory is essentially a website or database that lists businesses in a particular industry or location. It allows users to search for businesses by name, category, or location, and provides contact information, reviews, and other details about the businesses. A common type of directory is Google My Business (GMB), which allows users to submit information about their business and rank highly on Google searches.

There are many benefits of having your business listed in a directory—you can increase visibility for your brand by making it easier for potential customers to find you online. You’ll also be able to collect more reviews from customers who have used your products or services before (which can be helpful when ranking higher on Google searches).

Business search directories can help your business in a number of ways:

1) One of the most important benefits of listing your business in a directory is increased visibility. This can be particularly helpful for small businesses that may not have a strong online presence, or for businesses that are new to the market and want to get their name out there quickly.

2) Local SEO: Many business directories are optimized for local search, which means that they can help your business show up in search results for local keywords. This can be especially beneficial for businesses that rely on local customers.

3) Credibility: Being listed in a reputable business directory can help to build credibility for your business. It can show that your business is well-established and trustworthy.

4) Increased traffic: Having your business listed in a directory can increase the traffic to your website, as customers may visit your website after viewing your business listing in the directory. This is because it provides them with more information about your business and also gives them an insight into how you operate.

5) Reviews: Many directories also allow customers to leave reviews of your business. Positive reviews can help to attract new customers and build your reputation.

6) Cost-effective: Listing your business in a directory is often more cost-effective than running a paid advertising campaign.

Should I pay for a Business Search Directory – If so, how much?

That depends! There are many different types of directories and many different ways to use them.

If you’re a small business, or if you’re just getting started, free directories can be a great way to get your name out there and get some exposure for your business. They’ll often include information about your products or services, making them useful for people looking to buy from your company.

Paid directories offer more features and higher visibility than free ones. The cost for paid directories can vary widely, but it’s important to research the directory and compare the features and pricing before signing up. Some paid directories can cost as little as $10 per month, while others can cost several hundred dollars per year.

When considering whether or not to pay for a business directory, it’s important to weigh the potential benefits against the cost. If the directory has a good reputation and is relevant to your business, it may be worth the investment. However, if you’re not sure the directory will bring enough value to your business, it may be best to stick with free directories or invest in other forms of marketing instead.

Time, Time, Time…..

Time, Time, Time.....

When you’re striving toward your long-term goals, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and lose track of the small steps that get you there. But when you set daily goals, you can focus on what’s right in front of you—and that’s how we get big things done.

When it comes to goal setting, there are two important factors: intention and actionable steps.

First, set an intention for your goal. What do you want? What will make you feel accomplished at the end of the day? This is your WHY. Once you’ve figured out why this matters to YOU, then it’s time to take actionable steps toward achieving that intention. We know this probably sounds overwhelming (and it totally is), but breaking down tasks into smaller parts makes them easier to manage. And once you’ve gotten the hang of it? You’ll be able to tackle anything!

Setting goals is an important part of life, but it is also one of the most difficult. Many times, we set goals that are too large or not specific enough to be sustainable. This is why it’s important to have a clear understanding of what you want and how you are going to get there.

If we take a look at the following example:

As an air pilot, I would like to become a world-class pilot. My goal is to fly an aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean alone in less than 12 hours.

This goal is achievable because it has been done before by many pilots. The key here is having specific steps that lead up to achieving your goals and breaking them down into manageable pieces (i.e., getting a license to fly solo).

The comparison between setting a goal to become a world- class air pilot and setting a goal to literally fly a bird are two completely different goals. Finally, you need to have a constant check back on your goals to make sure you are on the right track to achieving them. It is pointless and time-consuming to set goals you have no intention of achieving them. Normally, what prevents us from succeeding in life is our failure in setting them.

Setting goals is important. It helps us prioritize, and it provides a way to measure our progress. But if you’re like most people, your resolutions just aren’t sticking.

That’s because, when it comes to setting goals, most people don’t do it right.

They set passive goals like “I want to be healthier.” Or they set vague goals like “I want to lose weight.” Or they set unrealistic goals that are likely to make them feel bad when they can’t achieve them: “I want to make $1 million this year.”

If you’re serious about making your New Year’s resolution stick, take the time to create a plan for how you’re going to achieve it. You might think this sounds tedious at first—but the truth is that the more detail you put into your plan, the better chance you have of actually achieving what you set out to accomplish!

Goal setting is a critical step to achieving success. There are different ways to set goals, but the most effective method is the SMARTER technique.

SMART goals are defined by as (S)pecific, (M)eaningful, (A)chievable, (R)elevant, and (T)ime-Based goals which are (E)valuated, with a (R)e- Adjusted approach which have been set until you achieve success. This is a crucial process to acheive success and those who don’t follow this goal setting would find goal attainment way tougher.

SMART goals only work when you start writing your goals down on paper. Include what you want to achieve specifically and elaborate it in full details without missing out any important points. For instance, don’t just mention you aim to be a millionaire or to become fit.

You need to set smart goals.

You’ve probably heard a lot about goal-setting, but it can be a tricky process. You want to set goals that are meaningful and achievable, but also not too lofty or unrealistic. For example, if you want to earn a billion dollars within one year and you’re currently having a heavy debt burden, your goal is not going to be very realistic. But if you instead want to earn $1 million in one year and then pay off your debt with the rest of the money, that seems more realistic and achievable.

The same goes for weight loss: if you aim to lose 10 pounds by next week and you’ve been struggling with an eating disorder for years, this goal might not be very realistic either. But if you instead aim to lose 1 pound per month over the next year while focusing on improving your eating habits along with working out more often, then this seems much more achievable.

So how do you know what SMARTER goals look like? Well first off we need an exact figure on how much money we aim to earn and an accurate quantity of pounds that we aim to lose as well as include a specific date for its attainment.

Business Search Directory – But WHY?

One of the best benefits of a business directory list is that it can give you greater exposure, which leads to more business. There are several ways in which your company can benefit from this:

Greater traffic to your website – Customers can easily find you by searching for your company on search engines, and the more people who find your website, the more likely it is that they will buy from you.

Increased search engine ranking and visibility – Search engines use directories as a way to rank websites, so having a listing in their directory helps boost your site’s ranking on search engines like Google. This means that even if someone doesn’t click through to your site directly from the directory page, they’ll still see it ranked higher than other sites in their results pages.

Greater credibility and trust in the eyes of customers – Having a business listed on an online directory shows potential customers that their business is credible and trustworthy; after all, if it wasn’t then why would it be listed here? This creates a positive association with your brand that can lead to increased sales down the road!

Increased sales and revenue – As we’ve mentioned before, being listed in a directory gives you increased visibility which leads to greater traffic.

Adding your business to a local business directory is one of the best ways to increase exposure and drive traffic to your website. Not only does it allow potential customers to find you online, but it also allows them to get more information about what you offer before reaching out to you directly through phone calls or emails.

You must create a listing because it gives potential customers the chance to see exactly where your business is located about their own location. This information can help them feel more confident about visiting your shop or restaurant since they won’t need to worry about getting lost when trying to find their way there.

The most effective type of directory listing is one that includes all of the necessary details about your business, including hours of operation, phone number(s), address(es) for both locations and headquarters (if applicable), social media links (like Facebook and Twitter), website address(es), email address(es) for customer service inquiries or other contact forms that people may want access too such as those related specifically towards booking appointments or making reservations for events like birthdays or weddings, etc.(if applicable).

Having all of your contact information in one place is a major benefit of using a business directory list. You can easily find it, use it, and keep it up to date. This means that when someone wants to reach out to you or your company, they won’t have any trouble figuring out how—and they won’t be frustrated when they finally do.

This consistency also ensures that potential customers will see the same thing when they look at your website or call your number: whether it’s online or on their cell phone screen; whether they see “Digital Marketing Consultant” or “Online Marketing Expert” underlined as part of your title; whether the email address at which they should reach out is listed in two places, there will only be one way for each party involved in communication with one another.

If you’re looking to increase sales and revenue for your business, then a business directory list is the way to go. A business directory list will help you get more traffic to your website so that people can see what you have to offer. The more traffic you have, the greater chance you have of making a sale.

The first step is to get more traffic to your website so that people can see what you have to offer. The more traffic you have, the greater chance you have of making a sale.

You can also use the benefits of the business directory list to increase your customer base by getting new business listings every day on Google Maps or Google Local Search Places search results pages. You should then use those new listings as well as old ones to boost brand awareness, credibility, trust, and visibility while increasing search engine rankings and backlinks leading up to it all working together in unison which will ultimately result in increased sales & revenue with ease!

If you want to improve your brand awareness and reach new customers, one of the best ways to do that is by getting listed in a business directory.

By doing this, potential customers will find it easier to remember and recognize your company because they’ll be able to see all of your contact information available in one place. It also makes it easier for them to find out about any special offers or promotions you have going on at the time too!

Business directories like Google Maps can also help increase sales by making it easy for people who are searching online for relevant businesses in their area to find you well-meaning more potential leads and sales at no extra cost compared with other channels such as television advertising which can cost thousands per month just for one commercial spot!

A business directory is a great way to increase the visibility of your goods and/or services in search engines. You don’t want to be lost in the shuffle of search engine results, but you also don’t want to pay for ads or other services that promise high rankings. A business directory list is an easy way to get more visibility online without spending a lot of money on advertising. When you search, your results are based on what others have said about your goods and/or services on the internet. Search engines use links as one indication of relevancy because they know that reputable sites link back to other reputable sites all the time. They also know that local directories link back to other local directories frequently too! So if you want your website listed in multiple directories, this is one way to do it!

One of the best ways to increase your credibility and trust with potential customers is to be listed in a directory. A directory list helps increase credibility and trust with potential customers by directing them from a reliable source (like Google) directly to your company page or website, where they can learn more about what services/products you offer and how much they cost.

As a business owner, you want to make sure that your customers are confident in your business. You want them to know that you are a legitimate company and that you’re trustworthy. When someone does a simple search for “web design” in their area, their top results might not be the best options for them. If a customer clicks on one of these low-quality companies, it could lead to bad experiences or lost revenue for your business.

Your website is an important part of your business, and you want it to be as successful as possible. One of the best ways to do this is through search engine optimization (SEO).

SEO is a way of making sure that your site appears higher in search results than others—and this can be done through various techniques such as keyword placement, backlinks (links from other sites), etc.

One of the best ways to get backlinks is through business directory listings like [company name]. This allows you to get links from sites that have been verified by our staff so that they will help improve your site’s rankings on Google.

The internet is a powerful tool for businesses. It allows you to reach new customers and connect with existing ones in ways that were impossible just a few years ago.

Online directories have also become an integral part of any marketing strategy, but why? What do they offer that traditional print directories don’t?

The first thing you will notice about online directories is their ease of use. The ability to update your business information from anywhere in the world through an easy-to-use interface means that you don’t have to wait until the next business day or even the next working hour for someone at your office to look up your listing and make any corrections or updates—you can do it all yourself!

Online directories also take care of maintenance for you so that you don’t have to worry about missing out on any new opportunities because an outdated listing was not updated in time or never existed at all!

We hope that this article has helped you understand why a business directory list can be such a great asset to your business.

If you want your business to grow, then it needs to be visible online. That means having an online presence that people can find and trust. If you’re looking for an affordable way to boost your online presence and increase sales, then a business directory list might be just what you need.

A business directory list will help you get in front of more potential customers and clients by giving them access to all the information they need about your company in one place. It will also help them find you easily so they can purchase products or services from you.

Get Listed in A Business Search Directory!

The main reason to be listed in a Business Search Directory is to increase your brand visibility. A business directory increases the visibility of local and national businesses, as well as retains that visibility long-term. It’s important to note that, unlike social media platforms, business directories do not require active participation for this benefit.

Business owners can simply input their data and hope for the best, or they can build comprehensive profiles that rank highly when searched by potential customers. For most business types, this extra visibility can lead to an increase in traffic – expansion means more potential customers! A good directory allows links to social media pages, like Facebook, Twitter, etc. and at least 5000 words for your business description.

They should allow comments and a rating system about the business being shown as well. Just do a search on Google for a Business Search Directory and consider this one specifically: AprofitableDay.com .Connect Businesses with New Customers – Everyday!

YouTube – Your “Elevator Pitch” to gaining New Customers!

Why YouTube?

YouTube is a smart investment for your ad spend.

Why? Because it has the ability to reach the right person at the right time, with the right YouTube ad.

The Google-owned platform is a great place to advertise because it allows you to target audiences based on their location and interests, as well as demographic information like age, gender and income.

In fact, according to research by The Media Trust, 55% of consumers go online for product information before making a purchase decision. With this in mind, you can use YouTube ads to connect with potential customers and inform them about your product or service when they’re most likely looking for information on it—before they’re ready to buy.

Not only does YouTube reach a wide audience, it also allows you to target the right person at the right time with the right ad. YouTube is not only an entertainment platform, but also a search engine. By advertising on YouTube, you have access to people who might be looking for your product or service—and they’re already engaged in their search. They’ve clicked on something that’s relevant to your business and are actively searching for more information about it. That’s what makes YouTube so effective: it gives you access to people who are already looking for what you sell.

In addition, research shows that users spend more time watching videos than reading text-based content—which means viewers are more likely to engage with your video ads than click away from them to read a blog post or an article on another site. And because viewers spend so much time watching videos on YouTube, they’re more likely to click through an ad and visit your website than they would be if they were browsing Facebook or scrolling through their News Feeds.

You’ve probably seen the ads on YouTube, but do you really know what makes it such a great platform for advertising?

YouTube is the number one place to reach the right person at the right time. Why? Because YouTube has more than 1.8 billion active users every month, and those users watch hundreds of millions of hours of video each day. Plus, with the ability to target specific audiences and optimize your campaign for maximum ROI, you can reach the individuals most likely to respond to your brand—and get them to invest in it.

Finally, YouTube ads are extremely effective because they’re shown alongside relevant content that users actually want to watch—which means viewers are more likely to click through and engage with your ads.

YouTube is one of the most popular platforms for watching videos, and it’s also one of the most searched-for websites in the world. That means that when you advertise on YouTube, you’re reaching millions of users who are actively looking for information about your business—whether they’re searching for your brand or industry terms, or just looking at funny cat videos in their spare time.

You also have the ability to invest in your ad to reach the right people at the right time. You can target based on age, gender, location and more. If you want to reach high school students who live near your college campus, then you can specifically target them with an ad on YouTube and Facebook.

If you want to reach people who are likely to buy from you but haven’t yet taken action yet, then consider targeting those who are engaged with other brands in your industry or category (e.g., travel). This will allow you to show them ads that speak directly to their interests so that they’ll be more likely to click through and convert into customers!

Below Is an example of the kind of report provided to show activity with your video – My favorite question to ask is- If at least 400 qualified buyers watched a video (Elevator pitch) about your business every month – Would that be of interest to you?  https://aprofitableday.com/get-listed-today/

YouTube is the critical Website to Promote Your Business with the Internet!

Youtube has become the platform that everyone turns to when they want to watch videos for entertainment, but what space can a business get? Opening a business channel can be an excellent choice to increase your traffic and visibility. However, remember to always include Youtube in your marketing strategy on social media. Only in this way will you be able to intercept your potential customers for long periods of time in their various “social” places they frequent, and at different times of the day. You will remain etched in their minds, increasing the chances of winning new buyers for your product/service!

There are many reasons why you need YouTube. First, it’s one of the most popular websites in the world—over 1 billion monthly users and over 30 million daily visitors. Second, it allows you to intercept a large number of people, which increases your brand awareness. In fact, nearly 500 hours of video are uploaded every minute!

How does it work? You can create a channel on YouTube and upload videos that show customers how your product works. You can also promote your videos on other sites and try to get them as many views as possible through advertising or social media campaigns. All of this will help increase your brand awareness and allow you to attract new customers.

Youtube gives you a great opportunity to reach a large number of potential customers. Youtube is very popular and users can easily share the videos on their social media like Facebook and Twitter.

This video can also help you get better positions in search engines like Google. Since Google bought Youtube, the videos appear in the search results. By using the right keywords, you can position your videos and promote visibility and traffic to your site, as well as its authority in the eyes of Google.

There are many videos on YouTube that have millions of views, but they’re not necessarily relevant to your business. However, if you do use YouTube as a marketing channel, you can increase its relevance by optimizing your video for one or more keywords. By doing this, you improve your chances of appearing in search results for these keywords, giving your video greater visibility and an opportunity to be seen by more people.

To make things even better, if you take advantage of all the tools offered by YouTube (such as Analytics), you can monitor user behavior and improve your strategy going forward.

Are you planning sales and marketing ideas for 2022?

Businesses spend a lot of money on their websites.  Even if not set up for e-commerce transactions, consider a short video on your home page. Give them the W’s – Who you are, what you do, and why you should consider us.  Simple, fast, and effective.

Would You Recommend Us?

“Would you recommend us”?   Four powerful words that would mean a lot if you ask one of your patients/customers/clients.  If you think about the psychology behind that and empathize with them. In a way you are thanking them for being a great patient/customer/client by asking their opinion. The fact that they are dealing with your business and appreciate being asked if they would recommend you to someone else. Sure you are asking them in a polite way for a testimonial/review of your business. But as we all have learned in life, if you don’t ask, you don’t…..you know what!

5 Star Reviews – Need to be Marketed

Your company has 100 Google 5 Star Reviews and your competitor down the street has 10 – 5 Star Reviews – So What! Unless your prospect is looking on Google and comparing the number, it means nothing – The real “gold in them hills” is being able to market those reviews on all of Social Media – Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, your website, etc. and of course Google My Business.

All of those are important but one that I want to showcase is your website. Question: How much money do you spend on your website every month? How many visitors do you get every month? Every visitor that comes to your website you should be showing your 5 Star Reviews to them – Not on a static page but a floating image in the bottom left or right side of your screen. The review should show for about 10-15 seconds then rotate to another review – All reviews Google, Yelp, etc. The review should be out of the way and not obnoxious but still able to grab the attention of ALL visitors as they look through your website. To see what I mean go to our website for 1 minute. You will notice a slight delay on the reviews as they appear, again not to be “in your face” but gradually get your attention. The “Stories” format is coming to Google search next

Google is launching a developer preview of something it’s calling “AMP Stories,” which are two words that only make sense if you’re obsessive about what’s happening with the way we consume content on our phones. So you might be tempted to ignore the whole thing, but don’t: because understanding what’s happening here will get you ready for what could be a major change to how your Google search results are going to look later this year.

Luckily, the basics are actually pretty simple. We’ll start with the second part, “Stories.” If you’ve been using Snapchat, Instagram, or any number of Facebook properties, you know what a story is. It’s a full-screen display of content you can swipe or tap through. Snapchat started it, Instagram ruthlessly copied it, and then Facebook even more ruthlessly tried to make Stories a thing in every product it makes.

Now Google is doing the same thing. Beginning today, it will begin testing a Stories format that will appear in Google search — but only if you go looking for it. Search for a publication like People, CNN, or our sister-site SBNation and you might get served a carousel of slideshow content created by that partner. It could be a slideshow of a top-ten list, little moving images, or some other “visually rich [way] of storytelling specifically designed for mobile,” as Google puts it.

The first part is a little more complicated. “AMP” is standard for web pages that are radically faster than existing mobile pages, almost entirely supported by Google. It was in some way a response to Facebook’s Instant Articles, but served from Google Search, Bing, and Twitter.

AMP hasn’t been without controversy, but it has become a major source of traffic for the publications that use it (including The Verge). And so the “AMP” in “AMP Stories” refers to the fact that Google’s version of the stories are built on that HTML-esque base. AMP Stories are coded and served with many of the same tools used to make AMP articles — so they load fast and may even be pre-cached on your phone before you click on them.

AMP Stories Promo video / Google

I should disclose that Vox Media was one of the publishers that worked with Google to create AMP Stories and I definitely should disclose that, as Peter Kafka reported at Recode, Google paid some amount of money to publishers like Vox Media to develop AMP Stories. Neither Google nor my corporate parents would tell me how much — though Google characterized it a sort of development fund instead of an ongoing payment like what Facebook once did with live video.

In this early preview, at least, AMP Stories will be much more like the stories you’ll see on Snapchat Discover than anything else. Examples I’ve seen are a mix of text, moving images, and a little video. You tap on the right to advance, tap on the left to go back. (Interestingly, these are taps and not swipes, which I am chalking up to HTML not being as easy to code interactions against as native apps.)

Vox Media’s chief product officer, Joe Alicata, tells me that AMP Stories are “a distinct, new way to tell stories,” as opposed to AMP articles, which are mainly faster ways to show content that would otherwise just be on a regular web page. Google has stressed that at this stage, it’s not allowing ads in AMP Stories, but Alicata believes that there’s potential to monetize them down the road.

Anybody can make an AMP Story (it’s an open-sourced standard, though one that is clearly being driven by Google), but Google isn’t going to put just any publisher’s AMP Stories up on its pages. For now, it’s only a small, white-listed group of publishers participating in the developer preview. AMP Stories can be linked to and shared, but be aware that clicking on one from a desktop browser probably won’t look as good as it will on your phone.

Google isn’t saying when AMP stories will fully launch nor where they’ll appear when they do. But it’s pretty easy to guess: you can probably imagine that these will surface in the “Top Stories” carousel on Google, on the Google feed on Android phones, and wherever else makes sense. But will they stick around or disappear like other Stories? Will they be little circles at the top of your search results? Will they show up in the “Ten Blue Links” section of Google Search? All questions Google won’t answer just yet.

If I were Google, I’d launch AMP Stories sooner rather than later. If I know anything about the web, I know that there’s usually a backlash to a popular format a year or two after it hits critical mass. So Stories are probably due soon, as is AMP. Take those two things and mash them together? I honestly have no idea how people will react to seeing that at the top of their Google searches.

You can check out some of the early AMP Stories by using your phone and searching for a publisher at . CNN, Mic, SBNation, The Washington Post, Cosmopolitan, Wired, People, and Mashable are all participating. (And yes, The Verge will be playing around with it, too.)

Daughter Teaches Dad How To Selfie, Doesn’t Expect Him To Become Internet Sensation

Daughter Teaches Dad How To Selfie, Doesn’t Expect Him To Become Internet Sensation

There’s nothing cuter than old folks learning to use technology and giving it their best shot. This just recently happened to a sheep farmer in Walcha, Australia, who was introduced to the ubiquitous selfie by his daughter, and proceeded to have way too much fun with it.

In a series of photos originally posted to the ‘Cool Dog Group’ Facebook page, then spread around the Internet, the man can be seen working the front camera with two supremely photogenic dogs, and even a sheep. It’s so innocent and pure, it’s bringing smiles to everyone who lays their eyes on it. Can we just go live on this guy’s farm and take selfies with all his adorable animals, please?

Though the story seems to have been confirmed by the man’s goddaughter, we’re still looking for more information about him – and possibly more selfies! If we have any sleuthing detective pandas in the audience who have additional info to offer, drop it in the comments. In the meantime, enjoy these wholesome, heartwarming photos, and share them with anyone who needs a pick-me-up today.

Here’s what the Internet had to say

Google has your number – Have you checked lately?

Do you ever run a report on your business in Google, to see how many of your potential customers/patients/clients type in your name or type in your business category to see if people are searching for you?

  1. A) First see the chart below for Average Monthly over the last 12 months search volume. People are looking for your business on line.

  1. B) Now that you know people are looking you up – How do you compare in number of reviews (5 Star Preferred) and what is your “Online” score  assigned by google, based on your average review. To find your specific business, most people type the following:  “Business Name – City – Reviews”

Take action,  once you see your score.  The best way to do this is have a system that asks every client/customer/patient for feedback – If it’s positive – you need to have them post it publicly.  Having the Review/Feedback  on your web site is nice but, for instant credibility it should be done by a third party. Google, which rates over 90 million businesses is by far the most trusted. There are many, many services that have a great “system” to get “feedback” and reviews from customers.

Having a high rating score on Google with many 5 Star Reviews is a great company asset,  that will pay for many years to come. The dividend,  is adding new customers  that contact you because of your high score and reviews listed.

Did you rig this listing with Google?

I get this several times a week – So how much are you paying google to have all those thumbnail Videos on the front page ?

The answer is...Zero

Nothing – not a dime.

I have been a big Google fan since Feb 2002. That’s when I opened my Google AdWords account. The pay per click was a big, big deal. It’s how I built my former online business from NO customers served to over 36,000 in around 10 years – over $7 million in sales – spending over $ 525,000 in pay per click with Google. Selling business checks and tax forms in my prior business (you may or may not of heard of it: ExpressChecks.com/ExpressTaxForms.com). As one of Google’s earlier advertisers, (I am advertiser 6450) they used to send nice gifts at Christmas. One year, they sent us a small refrigerator, the kind you could take in your car or motor home and plug in your cigarette lighter and have it either be hot or cold inside. It was a neat gift, but things change.

In one of those would-a-could-a-should-a deals. I, along with many others, was made aware of Google stock coming out. They were selling it by the Dutch bidding process: you couldn’t know the price until others had bidded as well. I passed…not a chance am I going to buy something without knowing the final price. Oh well, we all make mistakes.

The one thing I have stuck with from 2002 on, is playing the Google game. If you want to rank well and be listed with them, you had better follow their game.

I am still an advertiser with Google, but spend it more in Video Ads, than the words ad.

So why is any of this important ? Well, the next wave is coming, in fact to many of my customers, that have figured it out today and are doing it: VIDEO marketing. If you want to rank well with Google.com you had better have a video in the search results and you had better have close to a 5 Star Reputation with lots of reviews, to be taken seriously by new customers.

According to Bright local you need at least 6-10 reviews to be taken seriously.

People now trust, legitimate, verified 5 Star Reviews as much as a friend or family member recommendation. Google does verify and has several ways, to verify a person’s review. Google is the most trusted review company on the internet. Period.

I have heard horror stories about other companies that sell their services along with getting reviews. Several stories, not just a few. One in particular, a review company (not Google) posted a negative review, from a patient, the doctors office has no record of. That company actually refused to take it off. I am certain this costs this doctor’s practice 1000’s of dollars in lost patients, who saw this review near the top of this companies review listings for this office. Again, although a fake review, they refused to take it down.

Google and their review system they have set-up is the only game in town.

Most of the time, when checking out a company, here is what most people type into google:

“Company name – City – Review” in that order.

Try our company,

or you can just click this: AprofitableDay.com Lake Oswego Review

You will see many, many thumbnails showing. When most people see this on the front page of google, they click the video and play it.

We are paying nothing for this. Outside of our SEO (Search Engine Optimization) of each and every video we produce. It’s all Google Organic: non paid positions.

A lot of people do can do this for you but, with our expertise and a great price on our video production, we believe we have the best system available today.

5-star-review-9-of-them-gif

Every company wants more 5 Star Reviews. The best advertisement in the world is a happy customer telling someone else about your business. With recent changes a google it has been a little more difficult to obtain one from your customer.

We have a simple system, connected up to Google, that makes it easy for your customer and best of all it’s FREE.

  1. Go to our we page: (Aprofitableday.com) Type in your company name – This is connected to Google where 95% of all US Businesses are listed.
  2. 2) It will generate a link (I use the short 5 Star Link) which when clicked we bring up a box where your customer can type and post instantly a review on your business.
  3. 3) That’s it. Nothing more to do !

So the way to do this is email this link to everyone of your customers that have not posted a review on your business in the last 6 months. (Always have your customer post the review – not you – Google tracks the IP address – which is great – we want honest reviews posted)

Why customer Testimonials work ?

artwork-2

A testimonial is very important part to building and growing your business. It is also the least expensive form of advertising. Providing the viewer a verifiable sincere testimonial is extremely powerful in building your company’s “good will”. Obviously, people want to make the correct choice in purchasing a product/service and a testimonial helps to guide them to the correct decision. Outside of a personal friend recommending you and your business, the third party testimonial is the next best thing in building trust.

In these “new” days of our internet communication, asking for a testimonial and having your customer provide it, is extremely simple to do. (Granted, not everyone will provide a testimonial, but the simpler you make it for them to create, the higher the percentage of people will provide one)

Here are three things to consider:

  1. Just ask them for a testimonial. Use the words something like: “Our staff works really hard to make sure we are always providing good service to our customers, would you mind giving us some feedback on your recent experience working with us, so we may share it with others” ? Make it as simple and easy as possible 2-4 questions is the maxim.  More than that and you risk not getting important feedback completed.
  2. If you are face-to-face with a happy customer, ask them would if  they mind if you could share there comments with your other staff and allow you to record their feedback, via your cell phone. Short and simple under two minutes. Cell phones provide great video quality, the audio portion is a challenge. Try and be in a quite location, with the person no more than 4 feet away. It’s ok if the person wants to look directly into the camera, if they are comfortable. We have found the best way to handle this is you hold the camera and have them talk directly to you – most people find this much easier and relaxing when recording. They are simply having a conversation with you and you happen to be recording it.Once you have created it just upload it to Facebook, Youtube, Linkedin, Twitter or any other social media site where prospective customers are.
  3. Most people today have a camera on their computer – desktop or laptop. Call any of your “A” customers and ask them for their “feedback” Then connect up with them via a quick video connection via YouTube, Zoom or any number of video connection services. You can record them in generally less than 5 minutes time.

If you do any of the above with your customer, besides obtaining a great testimonial, you are building “Good Will” with that customer. It shows you really value their opinion, in how you operate your business. Just by asking the question every business owner wants to know: Are we doing a good job in satisfying your needs AND how can we improve ?

Are customers looking for your Products/Services online?

timeas w--GIF -- SMALLER GIF NEW VERSION rite2016-07-24_12-19-28

It is surprising the number of people, that don’t believe customers/prospects are looking for their product/service on the internet.

Google.com keeps track of every word and/or phrase that is typed in their search results.

The above chart shows some great examples. Most people when searching for a service or product will type the product/service first, followed by the name of the nearest city to them.

If you have a Google Adwords account you have access to the same information, just look under the heading title “Keyword Planner”. Type in as many different phrases/keywords your prospect customer/client will be typing in, followed by your city.

“Dentist New York”, “Carpet cleaning Philadelphia”, or “Pest control Dallas” – which averages 880 times per month. (Question: Of the 880 people who typed in “Pest Control Dallas” How many of those, did business with you?)

The next thing that appears, on the first page of Google.com is the below, notice it includes number of reviews and a rating of between 1 and 5 Stars.

Most people, after seeing the results on Google.com will look for the highest rating and highest number of reviews. According to a national study (Bazarvice/Brightlocal.com) it takes at least 6 to 10 Reviews online for a business to be trusted.

These are not pay per click listings either, but rather organic listings in google. Organic listings are really out of most businesses control. What a business can control is  to manage, build and market their companies reputation. It takes time, but building your companies reputation to a 5 Star level looks of good to future customer and is well worth the effort.

Don’t think of it as an expense, but an important asset to the company. As important as the goodwill listing on your balance sheet.
